Localization Engineer (For Local Value Addition) – Vehicle Assembly Plant, Kuliyapitiya, Sri Lanka
Western Automobile Assembly Private Limited (WAA) is a pioneering automotive company that has established Sri Lanka’s largest semi-knocked down (SKD) vehicle assembly plant in Kuliyapitiya.

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Localization Engineer to lead initiatives in increasing local value addition for our vehicle assembly operations. This role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and integrating locally sourced components, services, and suppliers to enhance domestic content, reduce import dependence, and align with national industrialization goals.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Automotive / Material/ Manufacturing Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive or manufacturing environments, preferably with exposure to localization or vendor development.
- Familiarity with quality/ local value addition compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of vehicle parts, materials, and assembly processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including ability to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Identify and qualify local suppliers for components, sub-assemblies, and raw materials.
- Evaluate the technical feasibility, compliance, quality and cost-effectiveness of local alternatives to imported parts.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure successful integration of localized components without compromising vehicle performance or quality.
