Key Responsibilities:
VAT Compliance:
- Review VAT return filings and ensure accuracy of relevant supporting documentation for submission via the RAMIS system.
- Monitor changes in VAT laws and ensure compliance accordingly.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
Corporate & Other Tax Compliance: - Handle tax compliance matters related to Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, SSCL and any new taxes introduced by authorities.
- Preparation and timely submission of relevant Tax Returns and schedules.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan tax regulations and RAMIS system
Tax Authority Communication: - Liaise with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) for tax audits, assessments and resolving queries.
- Prepare documentation and respond to IRD queries in a timely and professional manner.
SVAT & Refunds: - Follow up on SVAT credit vouchers and monitor their reconciliation.
- Coordinate and track status of VAT cash refund claims.
Record Keeping & Reporting: - Maintain proper and up-to-date tax records, files and correspondence.
- Ensure all submissions and payments are made on time to avoid penalties.
Support to Finance Function: - Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure tax implications are considered in financial operations.
- Provide support during statutory audits and ensure tax-related schedules are accurate and complete.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum 2 – 3 years of relevant experience in taxation.
- Partly qualified in CA Sri Lanka / ACCA / CIMA or any other recognized professional qualification in Accounting/Taxation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan tax regulations and RAMIS system.
- Hands-on experience in preparing and filing VAT, CIT, WHT, PAYE and SSCL returns.
- Prior exposure to dealing with Inland Revenue Department (IRD) audits, assessments and queries.
- Experience in handling SVAT reconciliations and VAT refund claims will be an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and ERP/accounting systems.
