Associate Machine Learning Engineer (Computer Vision)

We are hiring an Associate Machine Learning Engineer (Computer Vision) to work on a project focused on identifying elephants in images. You will work with a real-world image dataset of elephants from Sri Lanka, which will be continuously updated as new data is collected in the field.

Your work will directly support elephant conservation by helping to:

1. Improve monitoring of elephant populations through individual identification.
2. Provide better data to understand movement patterns and behaviours.
3. Contribute to efforts on elephant conservation, reducing human-elephant conflict and protection of habitats.

You will build and evaluate models, and then deploy them for production use. There is potential for this work to be continued as a postgraduate research project at a later stage.

The engineer will work under the Lanka Data Foundation as part of a collaboration between the Lanka Data Foundation and Federation of Environmental Organizations (FEO).
