Junior Legal Officer for Journalist Safety and Media Freedom

We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Junior Legal Officer to join our team and play a vital role in defending journalists’ safety and media freedom.

Responsibilities:
Provide legal research and analysis on issues related to journalist safety and media freedom violations.
Support the development and implementation of legal strategies to protect journalists and promote media freedom.
Advocate for journalists’ rights and safety before relevant authorities.
Monitor and document cases of journalist harassment, threats, and attacks.
Contribute to the development of training materials and workshops for journalists on legal safety issues.

Qualifications:
Law degree from a recognized university.
Strong understanding of international human rights law, particularly freedom of expression.
Excellent research and writing skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Fluency in English, and Sinhala/Tamil.
