𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 (𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡) — 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝟐𝟒

Anthem24 is a social-first news outlet, with a mission to make news more accessible and understandable – by taking the stories Sri Lanka is talking about and explaining them. We are building a newsroom that takes accuracy as seriously as accessibility, and we are looking for a Senior Journalist to help lead that editorial effort.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞:-

As a Senior Journalist at Anthem24, you will lead the development of our most important and most complex stories – researching, writing, and editing explained-news content for our English and Sinhala platforms.

You will work closely with the News Editor to plan coverage and help set the editorial standard for how Anthem24 covers Sri Lanka. You will be expected to identify stories worth covering before they become obvious, develop angles that go beyond the surface, and ensure that every piece of content produced by the team meets Anthem24’s editorial standards.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 :-

– Research, write, and edit explained-news content across Anthem24’s platforms

– Lead story development – identifying and developing stories with strong explainer potential

– Work with the News Editor to plan weekly coverage and anticipate major news moments – Source stories from primary documents

– official statements, court records, and institutional announcements

– Uphold and model Anthem24’s editorial standards – neutrality, accuracy, transparency, and rigorous fact-checking

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐨𝐫:-

– At least three years of journalism or editorial experience in any medium, including digital – Strong written English that is clear, accurate, and authoritative

– Demonstrated ability to produce well-sourced, carefully explained content under deadline pressure

– An understanding of how digital and social media platforms work as storytelling mediums

– The ability to explain complex topics – economic policy, legal processes, political institutions – in plain language – Strong editorial judgment

– knowing what is worth covering and why, not just what is trending

– Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of other journalists is an advantage

– Genuine interest in Sri Lankan current affairs – you should be reading the news every day already Prior experience in a digital or social-first newsroom is an advantage.

We are open to candidates from print, broadcast, or digital backgrounds who can demonstrate strong editorial instincts and a willingness to adapt to the Anthem24 format.
