The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, invites applications from suitably qualified graduates for two (02) M.Phil. Research Studentship positions under a nationally funded research project supported by the National Research Council of Sri Lanka (NRC) -Target-Oriented Multidisciplinary Research Grants Programme 2026.
π Project: “Nature-Powered Pathogen Control: Developing a Plant-Derived Bactericidal Filtration Technology for Sustainable Household Water Purification”
π¬ Research Areas:
- Microbial risk assessment & biofilm profiling
- Antimicrobial screening of Sri Lankan medicinal plants
- Safety & efficacy validation of plant-derived extracts
- Prototype water filter design & laboratory testing
- Pilot field deployment & performance evaluation
π° Stipend: LKR 55,000 per month (NRC-funded)

Duration: Up to 24 months

π International Partners: Kanazawa University & Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan
β Eligibility: B.Sc. (Hons) in Microbiology, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Biotechnology, or a related field-minimum Second Class (Upper) or equivalent.
