🌿 Call for Applications | M.Phil. Research Studentship

The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, invites applications from suitably qualified graduates for two (02) M.Phil. Research Studentship positions under a nationally funded research project supported by the National Research Council of Sri Lanka (NRC) -Target-Oriented Multidisciplinary Research Grants Programme 2026.

📌 Project: “Nature-Powered Pathogen Control: Developing a Plant-Derived Bactericidal Filtration Technology for Sustainable Household Water Purification”

🔬 Research Areas:

Microbial risk assessment & biofilm profiling
Antimicrobial screening of Sri Lankan medicinal plants
Safety & efficacy validation of plant-derived extracts
Prototype water filter design & laboratory testing
Pilot field deployment & performance evaluation

💰 Stipend: LKR 55,000 per month (NRC-funded)
📅 Duration: Up to 24 months
🏛️ Host Institution: University of Ruhuna, Matara
👨‍🔬 Principal Investigator: Snr. Prof. G.Y. Jayasinghe
🌏 International Partners: Kanazawa University & Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan

✅ Eligibility: B.Sc. (Hons) in Microbiology, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Biotechnology, or a related field-minimum Second Class (Upper) or equivalent.
